KARMA Project

[ps2id id=’karma-project’ target=”]Dimitra Yoga Karma Project Mission Statement

Dimitra Yoga Karma Project has been organized by the Dimitra Yoga Teacher Training group as part of our 200-hour training course on our path to certification as yoga teachers.

Karma Yoga is “the path of union through action.” In yogic tradition this translates into service to others within the community.

Over the years, we have been supporting some of these beautiful non-profit organizations:

Habitat for Humanity  partners with people in our community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. Through our 2020 Strategic Plan, Habitat for Humanity will serve more people than ever before through decent and affordable housing.

MERR (Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation) in Lewes, DE;

Rebuilding Together.org, providing critical repairs and renovations for low-income homeowners across the United States, many of whom are veterans, with their regional office located in Centerville, MD;

SOS (Support of Siblings), creates and distributes care baskets for siblings of children in the hospital. Siblings of Beau Smith of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Madeline, Molly and Maggie, have spent many long hours at A.I. Dupont Hospital with their brother as he has endured years of treatment for chronic illness. They wanted to do something to support kids that are or will be in their position. These baskets contain toys, games snacks, etc. and show support and understanding for this unique group of youth, who very often must take a back seat to the overwhelming needs of their sibling;

Africa Yoga Project, empowering over 250,000 Kenyans a year through the power of yoga, teaching in prisons, schools, special need centers, HIV/AIDS support groups and rural villages, a 501c nonprofit incorporated in New York.

Clothing Our Kids, improving the lives of at-risk elementary school children by providing them with essential school clothing. In this economy, many children do not have appropriate school clothing and this directly impacts their ability to learn, their self-esteem, and their probability of regular attendance. While they cannot fix all of the kids’ problems, their goal is to assist these children to receive an equal start in their education and assist them to become successful students and successful adults.

People’s Place, dedicated to becoming the agency of choice to help people find their path to growth and independence. People’s Place will identify the social/mental health needs of Delaware residents and facilitate the provision of services to address those needs.

What these groups need most from us is financial support! They have the bodies and the space, but to continue their very special work they need funding. Each of these groups is volunteer-based, non-profit and exist because of the generosity of others. Without donations such as yours, they could not continue their most-needed work.

Dimitra Yoga Karma Project is committed to raising as much as we can, but we have a target goal of $20,000 for this fundraiser. A drop in the bucket you say? The truth of the matter is you will be reaching hundreds of thousands of individuals who need a hand up, not a hand out, within our community and world-wide, changing their lives, yoursand ours in a profoundly good way forever. HELP US TO HELP THEM!
