Balance is the ability to maintain a stable position. Maintaining balance is essential for going about our daily lives. The ability to balance makes is possible to maintain independence and prevent falls, which can cause serious problems as we age.
Flexibility is the range of motion we have around a particular joint in the body. Muscles and joints become stiffer with age, reducing our range of motion. A reduction in range of motion can affect our balance because we can’t move easily from one position to another.
Balance and flexibility go hand in hand to enable us to move safely and healthfully in all our activities of daily living.
In this workshop we’ll explore a variety of ways we can preserve, improve and maintain our sense of balance and flexibility.
