Yoga + Ayurveda – Spring Rejuvenation

Ayurveda is known as “the science of life”.

More than a mere system for treating illness, Ayurveda is known as “the science of life.” Ayurveda teaches that the universe is composed of the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. These five elements, in turn, form the three doshas—vata, air and ether; pitta, fire and water; and kapha, water and earth.

Winter is the season of earth and water and is known in Ayurveda as kapha season. By nature, kapha is cool, dense, and heavy. As doashas are known to accumulate towards the end of the season, balancing these qualities becomes all the more important this time of year. In late winter, digestion can become sluggish and we might feel a bit tired and heavy ourselves.

In this workshop, students will be introduced to simple and effective ways to perk up metabolism and balance out the heavy, dense qualities of kapha through dietary choices, lifestyle, daily routine, movement, and mindfulness practices that can easily be incorporated into day-to-day life.

Students will also learn simple movement and breathing practices to gently stoke the digestive fire, known in Ayurveda as jathara agni. This fire is what fuels digestion and, when balanced, helps us feel energized, empowered, and fully awake to our lives and our purpose on the planet.

All levels welcome.

  • Option 2 – Virtual via Zoom. In this case, a link will be sent to your email about 30 minutes before class begins each week. You will be able to see and hear our instructor but you will not be able to talk to them during the class. *If this day/ time doesn’t work into your schedule, you can still participate because everyone who signs up for the virtual option will receive a recording of the class, so you can watch it when you have time that day or the next!
